Carcharodon - White Sharks

In the year 1989/1990, Chritian Hagenah, Florian Gärtner and Jürgen Hauser formed the "Silicon Warriors" team that developed games for the Commodore Amiga. The technical and graphical realization of the game "Carcharodon - White Sharks" was the highlight of our work.

Florian Gärtner was responsible for the graphical design of the game. The technical realization was carried out by Chritian Hagenah and myself. During development of the game we had the goal to utilize the available hardware of the Amiga 1000, Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000 in an optimized way. You can seen this by the number of used colors and the quality of the horizontal scrolling. Current Amiga emulators still have problems realizing this smooth scrolling with 50 frames per second.

On this page I provide some screenshots of the game. If you want to try it out, you need an Amiga emulator and the game. Both can be downloaded from the Internet (not on this page). I don't know a crack of the game that provides all levels of the game. The original game was about 1 MB stored on one disc, thanks to its own disc format (The original Amiga disc format provided only 880kB disc space). Hence, the size of the game was also the first part of the copy protection.
